An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M4A2 (75) Sherman medium tank in 1:72 scale from Zvezda. It is a modern mold conceived as snap-fit: the parts fit together even without glue, which makes the kit suitable for beginners too. Plastic tracks and a decal sheet with Soviet and American markings are included.
The M4 Sherman was the most widespread American medium tank of the Second World War. The M4A2 version had a diesel engine and, in the variant with the 75 mm gun, was used in large numbers by the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, as well as by the British army and the US Marine Corps. The Sherman made its name with reliability, easy maintenance and mass production; Soviet crews valued above all its comfort and its smooth running thanks to the diesel powerplant.
Snap-fit parts can be assembled dry, but for lasting strength it is better to glue them spot by spot. Work carefully with the plastic tracks when wrapping them around the wheels. Spray a thin primer before painting; for a Soviet Sherman use 4BO green and for an American one olive drab. The small 1:72 scale suits thin coats of paint from an airbrush and fine weathering: a light wash in the recesses, dry-brushing to pick out the edges and pigments to suggest mud in the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
