An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet MAZ-537G heavy ballast tractor in the intermediate configuration, together with the heavy MAZ/ChMZAP-5247G lowboy semi-trailer, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The combination served to carry tanks and other heavy equipment. The model captures the cab of the tractor, its complex running gear and the structure of the trailer convincingly.
The MAZ-537 was a massive four-axle tractor with a powerful engine, developed to carry the heaviest loads of the Soviet army. The first prototypes appeared at the end of the 1950s and series production got under way in 1960. Together with a trailer it formed the basic means of logistics for armored units. The intermediate type marks a particular development variant of the tractor.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement. The running gear and the many wheels call for careful alignment: assemble them in sections and let them dry thoroughly. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. The large flat areas of the tractor and the trailer are rewarding for washes and for dust or mud pigments, which give the combination a worked-in look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
