Meillerwagen in 1:72 scale — a kit of the German transporter-erector trailer for the V-2 (A4) ballistic missile of the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the German special vehicle Meillerwagen in 1:72 scale, the transporter-erector trailer for the V-2 ballistic missile (army designation A4). The model captures the characteristic truss structure of the trailer, on which the missile was carried and then raised to the vertical position.
The Meillerwagen was a key element of the mobile launch system of the German V-2 (A4) missile in the Second World War. It took the missile over from the transport vehicle, carried it to the launch site and used hydraulics to raise it upright over the launch table. At the same time it served as a working platform while the propellants were loaded and the launch prepared. The trailer was usually towed by a heavy tractor. The mobility of the whole system made it very hard to find and destroy.
Delicate truss work calls for careful clean-up of the parts and patience when gluing the thin struts: glue the plastic parts with liquid cement and any metal or photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer before painting, and an airbrush makes even coverage easier. The period look is completed with a wash into the recesses of the trusswork and light dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
