About product

Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a with WGr.21 1:72 (Arma Hobby)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a in the version with WGr.21 rockets in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Arma Hobby. The kit comes from the acclaimed Me 262 A-1a tooling and is completed with 3D-printed Werfer-Granate 21 launch tubes, etched parts, masking film for the canopy and the wheels and decals for two marking options. An ideal combination of good plastic and modern accessories.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet fighter in the world to be used in combat. Thanks to its pair of jet engines it exceeded the speed of every propeller fighter of its time and represented a revolutionary step in the development of aviation. The version with WGr.21 (Werfer-Granate 21) rockets carried unguided 21cm rockets under the forward fuselage, whose task was to break up tight formations of Allied bombers from a distance. This variant appeared late and in small numbers, yet it is among the most striking forms of this aircraft and one of the most popular with modelers.

Building and painting tips

In the small 1:72 scale the parts are delicate — cut and glue the 3D-printed launch tubes and the etched features with care, ideally with super glue. The enclosed masks make it easier to spray the canopy framing cleanly; mask and paint carefully. A late-war Luftwaffe camouflage with mottled gray-green shades on the upper surfaces and a light underside is typical of the real subject. Apply the decals over a gloss varnish and refine the weathering with a wash in the panel lines.

Who the model is for

  • collectors of the Luftwaffe and of pioneering jet aircraft
  • modelers who will appreciate plastic completed with etched parts and 3D printing
  • anyone interested in the striking and popular version of the Me 262 with rockets
  • more experienced builders used to delicate parts in 1:72 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
