The plastic kit MiG-19P in 1:72 scale from Clear Prop Models captures the all-weather interceptor version of the machine that was the first series-produced supersonic fighter of Soviet design. For this type the brand also offers the sister PM version alongside it and a whole group of related accessories, from wheels through airbrakes to the intake duct.
The basic day MiG-19 carried a cannon in the nose as well. As soon as a radar was added to the tip, room had to be freed up: the antenna received a housing on the upper lip of the air intake and its second part went into the central cone, while the gun armament moved into the wing roots. That turned the machine into a fighter able to intervene at night and in poor visibility. The later PM form lost its cannon entirely and relied exclusively on guided missiles.
The swept wing with its pronounced wing fences and the intricate rear end with two engines call for careful fitting of the parts. It is advisable to smooth and paint the intake duct before joining the fuselage halves, because later you will not get at it. Most machines flew in bare metal, which is a demanding surface: the base must be free of scratches and the individual panels are distinguished by shades of metallic paints laid down area by area.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
