About product

The real subject

The Miles M.2H Hawk Major belonged to the family of British light aircraft of the 1930s. It was a low-wing monoplane of wooden construction with two seats in tandem, fixed landing gear and an air-cooled de Havilland Gipsy Major inline engine. It appeared as a fast touring and sporting machine, and aircraft of this type also entered British military service during the Second World War, where they were used for training and liaison flights.

What the kit contains

This is a complete model in 1:72 scale, supplied unassembled and unpainted. The subject had a span of about ten meters, so the model is small and the build calls for careful work with tiny parts. The exact contents of the package and the recommended sequence of steps are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Try the parts dry before gluing and sand the mating surfaces as required. Super glue holds reliably even on aftermarket parts, and for small joints its thicker variant is useful because it gives you time to seat them. Paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Before spraying, wash and degrease the whole model so that the paint holds, and go over surfaces built from several parts again with fine sanding paper after filling. Glue the fixed landing gear with its wheel spats on only after the underside has been painted; it is easier to reach.

Who it is for

The kit will please modelers who collect British aircraft outside the main combat types, and builders with experience of small models. A beginner will appreciate the simple shape but will need patience when cleaning up and fitting the parts.

The package contains only the kit. Paints, glue and tools are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
