The Mk.83 with a BSU-85 tail and a protected casing, 1:72 is among the accessories used to finish off a model of a combat aircraft that is already under way.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Reskit set supplies a combat aircraft model with Mk.83 bombs with the BSU-85 tail unit and a thermally protective treatment of the casing. The name of the item gives four pieces. It is used in the final stages of a model under way, not as a project of its own.
The units of the BSU series on Mk 80 class bombs differ in shape and in how strongly they retard. A retarding version allows the load to be dropped from low altitude while flying safely clear of the blast, whereas a smooth low-drag tail suits a release from a greater distance. On a model this is told by the bulk and the broken-up shape of the rear section, which is the main reason the sets are distinguished.
The Mk.83 stands between the lighter Mk.82 and the heavy Mk.84. It is to be seen under the wings of carrier-based and land-based tactical machines, often in pairs on a multiple ejector rack. In 1:72 scale a single body measures only a few centimeters, so it pays to have sharp parts right from the start of the build and not to rely on filling.
Seat the rear sections exactly along the axis of the body, otherwise the bomb will hang crooked. Mix the shade of the casing for all the pieces at once, so that the set looks consistent.
