An extensive battle diorama set in 1:72 scale from Italeri, released for the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings (1944 to 2019). It is not a single vehicle but a complete scene: at its core is a model of the Pegasus lifting bridge assembled from laser-cut wooden (MDF) parts, and to it the set adds figures of British paratroopers and German defenders, anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, wheeled vehicles and terrain accessories for building a diorama of your own.
The Pegasus Bridge at Benouville in Normandy was among the first objectives of the Allied invasion. On the night of June 6, 1944, as part of Operation Overlord, it was taken by glider-borne troops of the British 6th Airborne Division in order to secure the left flank of the landing beach and to prevent a German counterattack. The swift capture of the bridges over the waterway became one of the symbols of the success of the first hours of D-Day.
Clean the burrs off the wooden parts of the bridge before bonding and join them with super glue or PVA glue (white glue); glue the plastic figures and vehicles with modeling cement for plastic. A primer, an airbrush or a brush and then an emphasis on the detail with a wash and drybrushing all work well. Finish the terrain, the vegetation and the mud effects with pigments; a diorama set positively invites weathering of the whole scene.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
