The German fighter biplane Pfalz D.IIIa in 1:72 scale from MAC Distribution. A plastic kit of a First World War aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of a German single-seat fighter biplane of the First World War. The Pfalz was never among the best-known types of its day, but it had qualities that pilots praised: a strong structure, good stability and the ability to take a steep dive, in which a number of contemporary machines broke up. The kit in 1:72 scale comes out as a small model whose most demanding part is the assembly of the wings and the bracing wires.
The Pfalz D.III was a single-seat fighter biplane with a liquid-cooled inline six-cylinder engine, that is with the cylinders in a single row one behind another. Its fuselage had a semi-monocoque structure of glued wooden strips, thanks to which it was exceptionally smooth and strong. The D.IIIa version received a more powerful engine and a revised arrangement of the armament, which was moved higher so that the pilot could see it better.
Build the biplane in the order cockpit, fuselage, lower wing and only then the upper wing. Try the struts dry in advance and glue them only once the previous step is dry. Stretch the bracing wires from wire or filament only after varnishing, or they will tear during handling. Imitate the wooden fuselage with a glaze over a light base, not with a solid brown.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
