The Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario plastic kit (RS models) in 1:72 scale, the elegant Italian fighter of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian fighter in 1:72 scale from RS models. It is a short-run kit, better suited to more experienced modelers. The parts are molded in beige plastic with engraved panel lines, the canopy is clear and one-piece in the closed position, and the box holds a decal sheet with several marking options. Short-run kits call for more cleaning up and more dry fitting of the parts than the kits of the big Japanese makers.
The Re.2005 Sagittario was the last and most advanced type in the Reggiane line of fighters. It received an enlarged and aerodynamically improved wing, new landing gear and a heavy armament of cannon and machine guns. It was powered by an inverted V12 engine derived from the German Daimler-Benz built under license, which put it among the fastest and most agile Italian fighters of its day. Only a small number were built, and it was deployed in the closing stage of the fighting over Italy, where it drew attention both by its elegant lines and by its performance.
Expect the short-run character: cut the parts from the sprues first, clean them up and dry fit them thoroughly, and only then glue them. Liquid cement for plastic suits it well, along with a drop of cyanoacrylate on the small parts. A primer and an airbrush are worth using; mask the one-piece canopy before the gloss coat. Italian camouflage schemes come to life with soft transitions between shades, washes in the engraved lines and restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
