This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter represents the Soviet KV-2 heavy tank with its characteristic tall turret (nicknamed the Big turret) in 1:72 scale. The model captures the massive angular turret carrying a howitzer of 152 mm caliber, detailed running gear and decals with Soviet markings.
The KV-2 came about on the chassis of the KV heavy tank and was armed with an M-10 howitzer of 152 mm caliber, meant to destroy fortifications and bunkers that an ordinary tank gun could not handle. The tall turret gave the vehicle an unmistakable silhouette, but it also raised its weight and its center of gravity. The KV-2 was committed in the opening phase of the fighting on the Eastern Front in 1941.
Assemble the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull. Paint the tall turret and the long barrel with their pronounced surfaces in mind; you will bring the single-color Soviet finish to life with a wash and with dust effects from pigments. A colored primer for plastic is suitable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
