An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian carrier fighter aircraft Su-33 in 1:72 scale. The set holds over two hundred parts on fourteen sprues and a small photo-etched fret. The finished model measures roughly 30 cm in length and has a span of about 20.5 cm, which puts it among the larger machines of its scale.
The Su-33 is the carrier variant of the heavy fighter aircraft Su-27, adapted for service on an aircraft carrier. It received strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook, folding wings and stabilators, and canards that improved handling during a slow approach to the deck. The aircraft has two jet engines and the classic pair of vertical tails. It entered operational service in the second half of the 1990s and served on the only Russian aircraft carrier.
The large wing and fuselage surfaces have to be dry-fitted, otherwise gaps appear that are then hard to fill without damaging the engraving. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close up the fuselage. The Russian blue-gray scheme is built on several close shades, so spray the transitions at low pressure and a short distance. Carrier aircraft tend to be heavily knocked about, so scuffs around the boarding points and traces left by the ground crew are appropriate.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
