An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat carrier-borne aircraft Su-33UB in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains more than two hundred and thirty parts, a small photo-etched fret with fine details and decals for up to two sets of markings. The folding wing panels and the arrestor hook match the carrier form of the real aircraft.
The Su-33 is the naval variant of the heavy fighter Su-27, developed for operation from the deck of an aircraft carrier. Compared with the land version it received folding wing panels, strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook and foreplanes. The two-seat form designated Su-33UB was created for training as well as combat use and had an unusual cockpit with the seats side by side, which makes the nose markedly wider and flatter than on the single-seat machines. Only one example was built, so it is a type that remained at the prototype stage.
Finish and paint the cockpit with its two side-by-side seats before you join the halves of the nose. Decide about the folding wing panels in advance, as the position cannot be changed once they are glued. The gray-blue naval scheme is best sprayed with an airbrush in thin coats; apply the decals over a gloss intermediate coat and finish the surface with a semi-matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
