An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet 9P117M1 launcher with the R-17 rocket in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss — the mobile launch system of the ballistic missile known as the Scud.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Soviet self-propelled launcher 9P117M1 with the R-17 ballistic missile of the 9K72 Elbrus system, known in the West as the Scud B. The model in 1:72 scale stands on an eight-wheeled off-road chassis and offers faithful detailing of the massive missile and of the launch equipment. The set contains rubber tires and clear parts. It is a striking subject from Cold War missile hardware.
The 9K72 system with the R-17 missile was a Soviet mobile system of tactical ballistic missiles, introduced in the 1960s and spread to a number of friendly armies. The 9P117M1 launch vehicle on a heavy wheeled chassis carried the missile to the firing position, raised it upright and launched it. The R-17 missile stayed in service for decades and its variants appeared in many conflicts all over the world.
First assemble the chassis, the axles and the lower parts of the hull; seat the massive missile and the launch frame at a later stage. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, and use a suitable glue on the small parts and the rubber tires. Apply a primer and spray with an airbrush — a uniform green suits Soviet vehicles. Bring out the panel lines with a wash, keep the body of the missile clean and smooth with only a fine accentuation of the joints. Complete the dust on the chassis with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
