The French fighter biplane Spad VII in 1:72 scale from MAC Distribution. A plastic kit of a First World War aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of one of the most significant fighters of the First World War. The Spad VII marked a turn in how fighters were built: instead of agility it went for strength and speed. A pilot could not get into a turning fight with it, but he could attack from above, pass through an enemy formation and leave again by climbing. It was precisely this way of fighting that became the norm, and the machine was therefore widespread not only with the French air service but with the Allies too.
The Spad VII was a single-seat fighter biplane powered by a liquid-cooled V8, that is an engine with two rows of cylinders set at an angle. Its fuselage was a truss structure and exceptionally strong, which allowed the machine a steep dive in which lighter opponents broke up. The designation C.1 in the name means a single-seat fighter according to the French nomenclature of the day.
Build the biplane in the order cockpit, fuselage, lower wing and only then the upper wing. Try the struts dry in advance and glue them only once the previous step is dry. Stretch the bracing wires from wire or filament only after varnishing. Imitate the surfaces covered with doped linen with a thin coat and a subtle difference of tone, not with a pronounced change of color.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
