An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat trainer version of the legendary British Supermarine Spitfire fighter in 1:72 scale from AZ model. The model captures the two-seat Tr.8 trainer with tandem cockpits and a raised rear seat for the instructor. The package contains finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and decals for several color schemes.
The Spitfire Tr.8 was a two-seat training conversion derived from the single-seat Spitfire Mk.VIII with the powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. The front cockpit stayed with the pupil, while the second, slightly raised cockpit belonged to the instructor, which called for a change to the fuselage spine and the canopy. These machines served for training, conversion and keeping pilots current in the postwar period, and some of them came about by rebuilding single-seat airframes. Thanks to their elegant silhouette and unusual cockpit, two-seat Spitfires also found favor with collectors of interesting versions of this legend.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Pay attention to seating the double cockpit and the glazing cleanly. Lay down a primer before painting and spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats; masking helps to clean up the glazing frames. Bring out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
