The Supermarine Spitfire is among the best known fighters in history. The two-seat trainer version Tr.9 came about by converting the single-seat Spitfire Mk.IX: a second, higher-set cockpit with separate glazing was built in behind the original one for the instructor. The aircraft was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. After the Second World War two-seat Spitfires served with a number of air forces for pilot training and auxiliary duties, and so they carried the standard military markings of their operators.
This is a short-run kit, so check the fit of the parts before gluing, clean up the sprue gates and any flash and dry-fit the fuselage and the cockpits. Glue with thin modeling cement for plastic, paint and highlight the interior of both cockpits before closing the fuselage and mask the clear glazing when spraying. Lay down a primer and the colors with an airbrush, and apply the decals over gloss varnish. For military machines choose the corresponding camouflage or bare metal scheme and bring out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
