A kit of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun from the May and June 1943 production in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian brand MiniArt aims at a particular production batch.
Responsibility details are not available.
MiniArt runs its StuG III assault guns in the small scale as a series divided by period of production. This box belongs to the batch of May and June 1943 and follows on from earlier boxes from February and March of the same year. Anyone who sets store by period accuracy will appreciate not having to settle for a generally treated Ausf. G.
The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G was the last and most numerous version of the assault gun on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. The vehicle, which had no rotating turret, carried in the front wall of the fighting compartment the 7.5 cm StuK 40 gun with a long barrel, which could deal even with contemporary Soviet tanks. During 1943 the production form changed as it went: Schürzen side plates were added, the gun mantlet and the equipment on the roof were modified, so vehicles from the spring and from the end of the year look different.
Start with the running gear, because the wheels and the tracks are easier to paint away from the hull. On a vehicle from the spring of 1943 an anti-magnetic coating is not yet to be expected, so the surface stays smooth and a dark yellow base with mottled camouflage suits it. Once the side plates are varnished, leave them slightly knocked about; a bent or missing plate turns a model into a vehicle from the front.
The model is supplied as an unassembled kit without a finish; paints, glue and pigments are not enclosed.
