A detailed injection molded plastic kit of the German self-propelled gun StuH 42 in the Ausf. G version from early production, in 1:72 scale. The package combines plastic parts with clear parts and a photo-etched fret, and adds a decal sheet for several marking options. The model offers fine rendering of the running gear and the superstructure in a small scale.
The StuH 42 (Sturmhaubitze 42) was a German self-propelled gun built on the proven chassis of the StuG III series of assault guns. Instead of an antitank cannon it carried a 105 mm howitzer, meant above all for fire support of the infantry against fortified targets and personnel. The early production batches differed from the later ones in a number of design details.
First assemble the running gear and only then close up the superstructure. Attach the fine etched parts with super glue and glue the plastic with thin cement. The model is rewarding for weathering: use dark washes into the recesses, dry brushing on the edges and dust or mud effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
