The Supermarine Spitfire PR Type G - Playing with Death is an injection-molded plastic kit of the British reconnaissance Spitfire in 1:72 scale from IBG.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from new IBG tooling. It captures the less known but historically important photo-reconnaissance version of the Spitfire, the Type G, under the attractive boxing name Playing with Death.
The Type G was a tactical photo-reconnaissance Spitfire created by converting fighter airframes. Unlike the lightened versions it kept its armament and the armored windscreen and carried one oblique and two vertical F24 cameras for reconnaissance from low altitudes. The early machines came from Mk I airframes with Merlin engines, later replaced by the more powerful Merlin 45, and the later examples from Mk V airframes. Unescorted reconnaissance flights over enemy territory were among the most dangerous tasks, which is what the name of the boxing refers to.
Glue with a thin cement for plastic and clean the fine parts up with a file. Reconnaissance Spitfires usually carried uniform blue-gray finishes, which come out best with accurate airbrush work and restrained emphasis of the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
