An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat trainer version of the American Grumman TF-9J Cougar jet in 1:72 scale from Sword. The model comes with clear parts for the canopy and several small resin parts to refine the detail. The decals cover a machine of the Vietnam War period as well as the color scheme of the Blue Angels team.
The Grumman F9F Cougar was a swept-wing carrier-based jet of the US Navy which grew out of the earlier Panther. The two-seat TF-9J trainer version served to train pilots and was also used in the forward air control role during the Vietnam War. Cougars in glossy blue also flew with the Navy aerobatic team, the Blue Angels.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin liquid cement for plastic; wash the small resin parts free of mold release agent and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the clear canopy. Apply a primer; the glossy blue Blue Angels scheme calls for a smooth base and a gloss top coat. Apply the paints with an airbrush in thin coats.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
