Tsybin NM-1 1:72 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet experimental aircraft of the 1950s from the Ukrainian maker Amodel.
Responsibility details are not available.
This 1:72 scale kit captures the experimental NM-1 prototype of the Tsybin design bureau. It is an injection-molded plastic model from the Ukrainian brand Amodel; the box holds sprues of plastic parts, a clear part for the canopy and a decal sheet with instructions. It is a fairly part-rich set.
The NM-1 was a simplified full-scale aerodynamic demonstrator, built in 1957 to prove an unusual airframe layout for a planned high-speed reconnaissance aircraft. A fuselage of steel tubing with duralumin and plywood skin was driven by two turbojets, and the machine first took to the air in 1959. It remained an experiment, but it belongs among the interesting chapters of Soviet jet development.
Amodel kits are short-run, and test-fitting and cleaning the parts up before gluing pay off; some joints may call for filling and sanding. Glue with a thin cement for plastic, mask the clear canopy and fit it at the end. Lay a primer on before painting and spray the large areas with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
