An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet supersonic bomber Tupolev Tu-22KDP (NATO reporting name Blinder) from Modelsvit in 1:72 scale. It is a large kit with rich engraved texture; the box also contains the large Kh-22 guided missile for carriage under the fuselage. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents go by the enclosed instructions.
The Tu-22 was a Soviet twin-engined supersonic bomber with its characteristic engines at the root of the vertical tail. The KDP version was adapted as a carrier for the Kh-22 guided missile, with the added ability to suppress air defenses and destroy radar sets. A long, slender silhouette, swept wings and high speed made it a threat both to naval forces and to targets ashore during the Cold War.
Modelsvit is one of the more demanding short-run kits - count on careful cleaning up of the parts and dry-fitting before gluing. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays first, before you close up the fuselage. The large bright metal surfaces reward a smooth base and a metallic finish applied at the end; a panel wash will bring out the rich engraving. Paint and fit the large Kh-22 missile separately, right at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
