The UAZ-469 is a Soviet light off-road vehicle with all-wheel drive, a simple body and plenty of ground clearance, which took it into rough terrain as well. It served as a liaison, reconnaissance and staff vehicle and spread through the armies and civilian services of the whole of Eastern Europe. The version here is the armed one, with a 14.5 mm heavy machine gun.
The plastic kit in 1:72 scale is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts are attached to sprues; the builder cuts them off, cleans them up, glues them and paints them according to the enclosed instructions. The finished model measures only around five and a half centimeters, so this is a small build.
Small scale rewards patience: cut the parts off with a sharp blade a little away from the part, hold them with tweezers and apply the glue with the tip of a toothpick so that it does not run. Fit the wheels on a flat surface so that the vehicle stands on all four. The machine gun is the most fragile part of the kit, so leave it until the end of the build and clean the barrel up carefully before fitting it. The open body lets you see inside, so paint the seats and the floor before you cover them up.
The kit will please collectors of military vehicles in 1:72 scale and builders of dioramas who can use a small supporting vehicle. The paint and marking breakdown is given in the instructions. Paints, glue and other materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
