A resin detail set of American 15-KS-1000 auxiliary takeoff rocket motors in 1:72 scale. Besides the resin parts, the package holds photo-etched sheet and decals for fitting the set. This is an accessory for dioramas and models of aircraft, not a kit in its own right.
The 15-KS-1000 units are solid-fuel rocket motors for assisted takeoff (JATO / RATO), which in the postwar period helped a number of military transport and combat aircraft shorten their run during a takeoff at high weight. The motor gave a thrust of approximately 1000 pounds for a period of 15 seconds. The set makes it possible to add these units to a model of an aircraft or to use them in a scene.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut the casting blocks off and clean them up. Bond the resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and bend the photo-etched parts over an edge. Wear respiratory protection while sanding and apply the decals onto a glossy base.
The set is an accessory, not a model in its own right. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
