An injection-molded plastic kit of the British liaison and special duties aircraft Westland Lysander Mk.III in the SD (Special Duties) version in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian company Dora Wings. This finely done short-run kit combines plastic parts with photo-etched parts, a small resin part and masks for the glazing, and the cockpit interior is richly detailed.
The Lysander was a British high-wing aircraft originally intended for cooperation with the ground forces (reconnaissance and liaison), powered by a Bristol radial engine. Thanks to its high-set wing and fixed landing gear it managed short takeoffs and landings (STOL) from improvised strips. The SD (Special Duties) version served on secret operations: at night it dropped and picked up agents in occupied Europe for the British SOE, usually fitted with an auxiliary tank under the fuselage and a ladder to the cockpit for a quick boarding.
A short-run kit rewards dry-fitting and cleaning up the parts. Assemble and paint the detailed cockpit before you close up the fuselage, and because there is a lot of cockpit glazing, use the masks provided. Glue the plastic with thin cement and the small resin part with cyanoacrylate glue. The fabric texture of the wings and the fuselage stands out after a coat of primer; spray the dark night SD schemes with an airbrush and lay the decals on a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
