About product

WWI Type B Omnibus in 1:72 scale from Roden

An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Type B double-decker bus of the First World War period in 1:72 scale. The package holds parts in gray plastic and a decal sheet for vehicles in period finish.

The real subject

The Type B buses of the London company LGOC were, from 1910 on, among the first mass-produced city buses. After war broke out, hundreds of these vehicles were requisitioned and sent to France, where they served to carry soldiers to the front and behind it. The open upper deck and the high body make them an unmistakable period scene. The Type B buses became a symbol of the improvisation of the First World War, when city transport was pressed into the service of the front.

Building and painting tips

Assemble the body and fill it, and clean the flash off the flat parts. The military finish tends to be a single color, so bring the wear to life with a wash, dust pigments and drybrushing on the edges. Mask the glazing and glue it with a cement that is kind to clear plastic.

Who the model is for

  • anyone interested in historic transport and the First World War
  • builders of dioramas with vehicles
  • modelers working in 1:72 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
