An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet fighter Yakovlev Yak-1b in 1:72 scale from Arma Hobby. The model comes from modern, finely shaped tooling with rich surface detail. Arma Hobby offers the Yak-1b in this scale in several boxings, which differ in the accessories included and in the choice of camouflage schemes.
The Yak-1b was an improved version of the basic Yak-1 of the Second World War. It brought a cut-down rear fuselage with a new hinged canopy for a better view to the rear, a retractable tailwheel and modified armament. It was built in a mixed structure with wooden and metal features, which matched the possibilities of the Soviet wartime industry. Light, agile and undemanding in service, the fighter was among the mainstays of the Soviet Air Force in 1942 and 1943, was deployed in defensive and offensive tasks alike and was flown by a number of well known pilots.
Glue the parts with a thin modeling cement, separate the small parts in this small scale carefully with a sharp knife and clean them up with a fine file. Treat the surface with a base color and spray the Soviet camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats; the fine panel engraving comes out best once a wash has been applied. Watch for a clean transition of colors on the fuselage and the wings and do not forget the framing of the canopy.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
