A metal movable front fork for a large model of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R motorcycle in 1:9 scale. It replaces the plastic part and the suspension really works.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ninja ZX-10R is a sharp superbike that over the last decade became a synonym for dominance in the world superbike championship. The rider Jonathan Rea won six titles in a row on it, and the machine thereby gained a reputation that no advertising can buy. On the road it is a four-cylinder of around a liter of displacement, with a sharp chassis and with aerodynamic elements taken over from the circuit versions.
A model in 1:9 scale is big enough for shortcomings to show on it. The plastic legs of the fork have a matte surface that does not recall polished metal even in silver paint, and they cannot be compressed at all. A metal replacement solves both: the surface reflects light like a real tube and the suspension works, so the model can be set in a slight crouch or the front end shown under braking.
Before starting work, compare the parts with the kit and check whether the mounting in the steering yoke fits. The metal components are glued with two-part or cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary plastic cement has no effect here. And reckon with the fact that metal adds weight to the model, so the stand has to be solid. If you are building for the first time, allow more time for the front end than for the rest of the machine; it pays off.
