A blue with a metallic sheen holds a special position on a model. It reads as technical and cool, so it fits robot kits, futuristic machines and everything meant to look like machined and anodized metal. At the same time it is one of the shades where the base matters most.
Over a black base the blue comes out deep and almost dark violet, over a silver one bright and cool instead, because the metal particles find a reflective surface beneath them. The builder thus chooses how saturated a result to go for without having to reach for a different bottle. A test spray on a piece of sprue saves a lot of sanding down.
It is thinned with water or with the product the manufacturer supplies for this line under the name Acrysion Thinner; Acrysion Tool Cleaner serves for flushing the tools. With metallic shades in particular it holds that the container has to be stirred every time, because the particles sink to the bottom within minutes.
When building up large areas it proves best to keep the airbrush at a constant distance and to move it evenly. The moment the hand stops, the particles pile up in that place and a lighter blotch appears, which shows under any varnish.
