A printed AN/ALQ-184 electronic warfare pod in the shorter version, scale 1:48. It hangs on the pylon of an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AN/ALQ-184 is an American electronic warfare pod. It carries its own transmitting array and its task is to disrupt the work of hostile radars, so that the aircraft does not have to pay for its protection with its own armament. The pod is hung on an ordinary pylon and exists in two lengths; this item corresponds to the shorter version. On a model it is a prominent external store that by itself reveals what mission the aircraft was sent on.
According to its name the pod is made by three-dimensional printing, so the body is in one piece and there is no lengthwise seam and no need to fit two halves together. The set is intended for building a model in 1:48 scale.
Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand their remnants down; never break the supports off, so that the surface is not torn away. Wash and degrease the part before painting, because print resin residue would stay under the paint as glossy patches. Bonding is done with super glue, as modeling cement for plastic has no effect here. A primer coat helps to even the surface out and shows up the places that still need sanding.
This is an add-on set for building a model. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
