A black surfacer of 1000 fineness from the water-thinnable Aqueous line, the manufacturer's part number B-613. It unifies the surface of the model and reveals flaws before painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A surfacer is an intermediate layer between a bare model and the paint. It unifies a surface made up of various materials and shades, fills the finest sanding marks and gives the paint that follows an even base on which it holds better than on smooth plastic. Above all, though, it shows what on the model is still unfinished: a uniform coat reveals unsanded joints, scratches and traces of gluing that get lost on a mottled surface.
The number in the name expresses the fineness of the layer. The higher the number, the finer the layer applied and the less it covers fine engraved detail, while lower numbers fill coarser flaws. A fineness of 1000 therefore suits models with delicate engraved detail. The black execution suits dark finishes, where it saves coats, and the technique in which a lighter color is applied only lightly over a dark surface so that shadow stays in the recesses.
Stir the contents thoroughly before use. Apply in thin coats, as a heavy coat will fill the engraved detail and the riveting. Once dry the surface can be sanded with fine paper and the flaws revealed can be dealt with, or the spot sprayed again. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the label, and the same goes for cleaning the tools.
For modelers who want to be sure before painting that the surface really is finished, and for anyone building dark-colored machines. Thinner and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
