Pla-paper from Tamiya is not a kit but a modeling material. These are polystyrene sheets only 0.05 mm thick in B4 (364 x 257 mm) format; the package holds 4 pieces. Thanks to its extremely small thickness the material behaves like paper: it is flexible, it can be bent, rolled and formed around curved surfaces, while keeping the properties of plastic — it is water resistant and glues with ordinary cement for plastic models, which etches it and bonds it firmly to the model.

That is exactly its main advantage over paper or film: the joint is strong and chemical, not merely mechanical, and the surface can be primed and sprayed with modeling paints without trouble.

Use

• Scratch building — making your own parts, bulkheads, covers and superstructures the kit does not hold.
• Fine sheet metal and skins — imitating thin metal parts, overlapping, plating and patches, where an ordinary plastic sheet would be too thick.
• Interior lining — linings of interiors, panels and infills in cabins, cargo beds and fuselages.
• It is cut with scissors or a modeling knife and does not have to be scored and snapped like a thicker plastic sheet.
• It can be marked with a pencil or a felt tip and painted with a spray can, acrylics or enamels.
