CRE-01 Mr.Color Revival - Cranberry Red Pearl

The color

Cranberry Red Pearl is a red shifted toward cranberry, that is darker and cooler than a signal red, with a noticeable pull toward purple. The word Pearl in the name says that there are pearl particles in the paint: the shade therefore changes with the angle of view and with the way light falls on the surface. The paint is listed in the Mr.Color Revival range under the code CRE-01.

Where it is useful

On the bodies of cars and motorcycles, on the covers and panels of robots and science fiction machines and on accessories where an otherwise flat red should gain depth. Pearl paints stand out on large smooth surfaces, where the transition of the sheen is visible. On an uneven surface with deep engraving the effect is lost, and there the result tends to be more interesting when the pearl is left only on the upper surfaces.

How to apply the paint

• Stir the bottle properly before use, as pearl particles settle faster than ordinary pigment.
• Spray thin, even coats, as pearl clumps into patches in a heavy layer.
• The base should be smooth, as every scratch under a pearl coat will stand out.
• The resulting tone depends on the base, so try the paint first on a test plate or on a hidden area of the model.
• It is better to avoid a brush with pearl, as the strokes will stay visible in the sheen.
