Dark Red Ochre

Vallejo Pigment Dark Red Ochre

This is a dry weathering pigment, that is, a fine colored powder, not a liquid paint. The dark red ocher has a rich brick red-brown tone that suits red earth, iron-rich deposits and smooth transitions into rust and aged brick. The pigment is micronized and binder-free, so it disperses easily in water, in an acrylic medium and in turpentine.

Use

• It is applied dry with a soft brush where rust, red earth and deposits form.
• It is fixed with a pigment fixative, a thinner or a matte clear coat.
• It combines with rust and brown pigments for convincing layering of corrosion.
• Mixed into a medium it works as a red-brown wash or a dusting coat.

Who it is for

For modelers creating rust, corrosion and earth effects on military and civilian vehicles and on dioramas. It is used in the final stage of weathering.

This is a fine powder. Do not inhale it, work out of a draft, ideally with a respirator, and keep it out of the reach of children.
