Decal Softener is a stronger softening solution applied ONTO a decal, and that after it has been laid on the model. The decal then softens and loses its stiffness and as it dries it draws itself into engraved panel lines, rivets, edges and curves. The result is a fundamental difference: the marking no longer looks like a stuck-on film but as if it were painted straight onto the surface. The solution also softens the edges of the decal film.
The order and the place of application are therefore different. If you use Softener instead of Fix, the decal will have nothing proper to grip; if you use only Fix, the decal will hold but will stay stiff over the engraved lines and look like a sticker.
For modelers who are bothered by decals standing above engraved lines and shining at the edge. It helps most on aircraft with dense panel engraving, on vehicles with rivets and edges and everywhere a marking has to run across an irregularity.
Safety: use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, do not inhale the vapors and wash your hands after work. In sensitive people the product may cause an allergic skin reaction. Keep out of the reach of children and follow the data on the label.
