A water texture in a cool green-gray tone for mountain streams, brooks and fords with flowing, clean water.

River Water corresponds to the color of a watercourse that does not stand still. The cool green-gray cast belongs to streams in the foothills, to shallow fords across a stony bottom and to weirs where the current breaks on boulders. Flowing water differs from standing water mainly in not having a calm surface: every stone leaves a trace behind it, every pier divides the current and at the bank a slower band arises where foam and carried twigs collect.
The bed is fitted with stones and gravel before it is flooded, because once it is cured nothing can be set into the surface. Around every obstacle, think out in advance where the current will flow. The compound is then added gradually and the last dose is combed with a point while wet, so that longitudinal grooves arise in the direction of the current. The white crests on rapids are made at the very end with a thin layer of white paste laid only on the tops of the waves, never over the whole area.
The carrier is water-thinnable, without solvents and without a mixing ratio, so it can be worked in doses over several days and an interruption does not spoil the work. The cured surface takes fine sanding with the finest paper, should dust or a hair from a brush appear on the surface; the matte trace left by the sanding is then healed with a drop of gloss varnish.
The bank strip is what gives a scene its scale. Driftwood, smoothed pebbles and the imprint of a wheel in wet sand say more about the depth than the color itself. Suggest a wet rim on a stone with a thin stroke of gloss and leave the dry remainder matte.
