Diorama Project 1.1 – AFV at War is a modeling publication from the Vallejo range devoted to dioramas with armored vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
A publication from the Diorama Project series, which Vallejo carries in its range. It is not a kit and not a set of material, but a book. The abbreviation AFV in the subtitle stands for armored fighting vehicles, so this volume joins two subjects together: the building of a diorama and armored vehicles as its main element.
For modelers who build armored vehicles and want to set them into a whole together with a scene. A diorama with a vehicle has its own rules: the vehicle has to sit into the terrain, in height as well, the marks in the ground have to match its weight, and the dusting or muddying of the model has to go with the coloring of the base. These are things that do not come up with a model displayed on its own and that decide the result in a diorama. On top of that comes composition: a vehicle is a massive object that dominates the scene, so the surroundings have to be built with regard to it and not the other way around. A modeler who has so far built only models on their own usually runs into trouble precisely here — the craft is in hand, but the scene does not hold together.
The product is supplied as a publication. The model, the material for the terrain and the paints are not part of it.
