A set of AMMO of Mig Jimenez modeling paints put together for modulating the Dunkelgelb base shade. German ground vehicles were painted in this dark yellow in the second half of the Second World War, and it is therefore the starting finish for a large part of models of tanks, self-propelled guns and trucks.
A model in a small scale looks flat, because on a small surface the difference between light and shadow is not as great as on a real vehicle. Modulation solves this by spraying the surfaces in graded tones of the same shade: the centers of large surfaces and the upper edges lighter, the lower areas, the corners and the surroundings of rivets darker. The set offers tones for this that follow on from one another, so you do not have to mix them yourself and the grading comes out the same over the whole model.
First lay down the base coat and let it dry. Then spray the darkest tone over the whole surface and add the lighter tones gradually into the centers of the surfaces, always in thin coats and at reduced pressure, so that the transitions stay soft. Use the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions for this range. A transition that comes out too sharp can be evened out by a thin coat of the darker tone applied over the whole surface. Fix the finished grading with a varnish; only then do the decals and the rest of the finishing work belong on it.
A model, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
