Accessory elements on the theme of the American West from the AK Basing Bits line, intended for figure bases and western dioramas. A model and paints are not included.
Responsibility details are not available.
A western scene stands or falls on the small things. An empty piece of parched ground turns into a particular place only once an object appears on it that somebody left there. The set of the AK Basing Bits line brings accessory elements on the theme of the American West with which the base of a figure or a small vignette is completed with such a detail.
The theme takes restraint. Parched ground, weathered wood and little greenery give a scene its character by themselves, so place the elements rather sparingly and leave free space between them. Lay them out dry first and try turning them about until the composition leads the eye toward the figure. A symmetrical arrangement rather harms a scene.
Use super glue to bond them, as it holds even on dissimilar materials. Before painting, wash, degrease and prime the elements; otherwise the paint rubs off a smooth surface. Wooden surfaces look credible on a gray-brown base with a dark wash in the cracks and the grain picked out with drybrushing. Let the metal parts darken and rust a little in rusty shades, but only in the places where water gathers. At the end, unify the whole scene with a thin layer of light dust, which settles at the foot of every object.
For figure painters and builders of vignettes on western themes, and for modelers who put together the landscape of the dry Southwest. A model, a figure, a base, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
