Flash, accelerator (activator) for super glue (AK Interactive)

Flash is a liquid accelerator, that is an activator for cyanoacrylate (super) glues from AK Interactive. It is a modeling supply, chemistry; it is not a kit and it is not the glue itself. The activator triggers the instant curing of super glue: where the glue would take long seconds or minutes to set, the joint holds practically at once. The liquid variant comes in a glass bottle with an applicator brush, so you apply it exactly where you need it, without affecting the surroundings; unlike the spray version it is meant for fine, targeted work.

Use

• Apply the glue to one surface and the activator with the brush to the other (or to a joint already assembled), then put the parts together and the curing happens at once.
• Small parts with a minimal mating area, where there is no way to hold pressure and wait for it to set.
• Curing cyanoacrylate used as a filler: a drop of glue into a gap, the activator, and it can be sanded straight away.
• Apply it sparingly, because an excess of activator increases the risk of a white bloom on the surface and the joint can be more brittle.
• Take care with clear parts (canopies, glazing, lights), because the activator and the fumes of cyanoacrylate can whiten or fog them; cover clear parts and rather do not use the activator near them.

Who it is for

For modelers who ordinarily work with super glue: on resin and 3D-printed parts, photo-etched parts, conversions, terrain and dioramas. It speeds up a build markedly and makes gluing small things more precise. It is an accessory to a glue and does not bond anything on its own.

Safety: work in a well ventilated room and protect your eyes and skin (the fumes irritate the eyes and mucous membranes); use gloves and eye protection. The cyanoacrylate the activator is used with bonds fingers instantly and reacts with the activator very quickly and exothermically, so with a larger amount the joint can heat up. Do not work near open flame. Keep out of the reach of children. If it gets into the eyes, see a doctor. Follow the instructions and the safety data sheet of the manufacturer.
