An eight-color Model Color set built around German field gray. It contains tones for shading and for the final highlights on a uniform.
Responsibility details are not available.
Feldgrau was never a single color. The shade differed with the production batch, with the age of the cloth and with how many months the uniform had spent in the sun and the rain. The set takes that spread seriously: around the basic field gray it builds a whole ladder of tones with which one and the same cloth can be painted as new and as worn through.
The procedure is straightforward. The base tone is laid over the whole uniform, the dark green is drawn into the folds and the light tones are applied with a dry brush to the raised edges, the shoulders and the knees. That creates the impression of cloth that has volume, instead of a flat patch of color.
The set is built for figures, but it will also serve for the gear and personal equipment of vehicle crews. The presence of a flesh tone in the package means that to finish a soldier figure you only need to buy paint for the boots and for the metal parts of the weapons.
For a figure collector it is useful that the shades can be used beyond the cloth of the uniform as well. The green-gray tones suit the canvas parts of the gear, shelter quarters and helmet covers, so a single package covers a soldier from his boots to the load on his back.
