This is a modeling reference book, not a kit. The publication from HMH Publications (the Aircraft in Detail series by Duke Hawkins, publisher's reference DH-042) maps the British jet fighter Gloster Meteor in its F.8 version and its FR.9 reconnaissance variant in detail.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British production jet fighter; the roots of the design go back to 1943. The F.8 version became the main postwar fighter variant and served with a number of air forces - the RAF and the Belgian and Dutch air forces among them. The reconnaissance FR.9 carried cameras in the forward fuselage.
The publication will serve modelers as a photographic reference for building and painting, but also collectors and enthusiasts of the history of jet aviation.
