About product

GT65H - a spare 1.00 mm blade for the Mr. Line Chisel GT-65 (Gunze / Mr. Hobby)

This is a spare scriber blade, not a standalone tool. It is fitted into the Mr. Line Chisel GT-65 scriber (the handle) from the manufacturer Gunze (Mr. Hobby), which you have to have - without the handle you will not use the blade. The width of 1.00 mm is extra wide within the range: it is among the coarsest blades and on an ordinary model it would be too robust.

What engraving panel lines is for

With a scriber you restore and deepen the molded parting and panel lines, which lose their depth and disappear after seams have been sanded and coats of clear have been applied. A re-engraved line stays legible and takes a wash nicely to bring the detail out. Engraving is done by pulling toward you, at a slight angle, in several light repeated strokes - you control the depth by the pressure.

Use

  • Extra wide grooves on very large models (1:24, 1:16, ships, dioramas).
  • Coarse gaps around hatches, large parting lines, the outlines of doors and covers.
  • Deep, prominent grooves where a fine blade is not enough.
  • It works on plastic, ABS, PVC and resin.

Who it is for

For modelers with a special need for wide and deep lines on sizable builds. On an ordinary aircraft or car model in a small scale, 1.00 mm is needlessly coarse - for finer work reach for the narrower blades in the range (0.10 to 0.70 mm) or for the shallow blades.

The blade is very sharp - handle it carefully, engrave away from your fingers and use a template. Store out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Yes. It is only a spare blade for the Mr. Line Chisel GT-65 handle. You have to own the scriber (the handle) itself, otherwise you will not use the blade.

For very large models and dioramas (1:24, 1:16, ships), where you need coarse, deep parting lines and gaps. For small scales it is too wide.

You set the blade at a slight angle and pull it toward you along a template. You form the line with several light strokes and control the depth by the pressure.
