HGQ-01 is a semi-gloss white from the themed Aqueous Gundam Color range. The base is a water-thinnable acrylic paint by Mr.Hobby, the same as in the standard Aqueous Hobby Color range; the shade is mixed for painting mecha kits and carries the designation of the GQuuuuuuX machine. White is the basic shade in every paint collection and the one that runs out first, so it is worth keeping on hand.
A semi-gloss surface matches the look of finished Gundam kit parts and at the same time serves as a decent base for decals. Besides mecha you will use it on fuselage areas, accessories, figures or on any part where you want a clean white without a sharp shine. It also mixes well with other shades of the same range when you need to lighten a tone of your own.
White covers worst of all the shades, so count on several coats. Laying down one heavy coat does not help, it buries the detail and dries unevenly; three thin ones with a pause to dry are better. A light primer helps a great deal, over it the white comes out even and sooner. Stir the paint properly before use, the pigment settles. Wash and degrease the plastic, otherwise the paint will not hold well on a smooth surface. Wash the tools with water right after the work; once the paint has dried only thinner will clean them.
The package holds a single bottle of paint. The thinner, the brushes, the airbrushes and the kit are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
