HGQ-02 is a semi-gloss blue from the themed Aqueous Gundam Color range. It is a water-thinnable acrylic paint by Mr.Hobby, that is, the same formula you know from the standard Aqueous Hobby Color range; the only difference is that the shade is mixed directly for painting mecha kits and carries the designation of the GQuuuuuuX machine. It saves you hunting for a substitute among the generic blues and mixing a tone of your own.
A semi-gloss surface matches the way finished Gundam kit parts look, and it is a good base both for decals and for accentuating panel lines. The use need not stop at mecha: a saturated blue without a sharp shine also suits figures, accessories or other sci-fi hardware.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use, the pigment settles in the bottle. It goes on with a brush as well as with an airbrush; for spraying, thin it with the thinner meant for the Aqueous range. Wash and degrease the plastic first, on a smooth surface the paint holds substantially better with a primer. Work in several thin coats and let each one dry, otherwise the previous coat bleeds. Wash the tools with water right after the work; once dry, the paint comes off only with thinner. The finished surface will take a clear coat with which you even out the sheen of the whole model.
The package holds a single bottle of paint. The thinner, the brushes, the airbrushes and the kit are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
