Khaki green is a subdued green tone with a brownish yellow undertone, that is, the typical color of military hardware and equipment. It differs from a saturated green precisely in that muting: a pure green looks unnatural on a model, whereas a tone shifted toward khaki matches how the finish looks in the field and in daylight. It is used for the overall finishes of vehicles, for tarpaulins, crates and transport covers and also for the uniforms and field equipment of figures.
It is one of the basic shades for military models:
A large continuous area is demanding when it comes to evenness, so apply the paint in thin coats and overlap the passes of the airbrush by half their width. On a model in a large scale a uniform finish looks dead: it pays to lighten the shade slightly in the centers of the areas with white or sand and to leave it darker in the corners and under superstructures. The dry surface is a suitable base for picking out detail and for the dry brush. Mix the bottle thoroughly before work and thin it for spraying with the thinner intended for this range; the ratio is refined according to the gun and the pressure. Wash the tools immediately after work, while the film is still soft.
One bottle of paint is supplied. Thinner, primer, clear coat and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
