About product

Human Flesh, Quick Marker (AK interactive)

The Quick Marker is a modeling paint in marker form, not a kit and not a weathering product. It belongs to the range of contrast paints (so-called speed paint) from the Spanish firm AK interactive and contains a water-thinnable acrylic paint based on a new generation of binder. The content matches the AK contrast paints in bottles, only packed into a marker with a flexible brush tip that combines the precision of a brush with the convenience of a marker. The shade Human Flesh is the basic flesh color for human skin.

How contrast paint works

The paint is deliberately translucent and self-shading. Once applied it runs into the recesses, where it concentrates and darkens, while it stays light on the raised surfaces. A single stroke thus produces color together with shading, on skin precisely where a figure needs it: in the eye sockets, under the nose and in the folds of the neck. It is the face that tends to be the hardest discipline on figures, and a contrast paint manages it without mixing shades.

The most important practical information: a contrast paint needs a light base. The manufacturer recommends a white or bone base. On a dark base a translucent paint practically does not show.

Let us be honest: for realistic skin the highlights and shadows are usually still added by hand. The Quick Marker gives an excellent and above all fast base, not a finished masterpiece.

Use

  • Fast painting of the skin of figures and wargaming armies: faces, hands, neck.
  • A base under hand-painted highlights and shadows on collectors' figures.
  • Painting small flesh details where thinning paint in a bottle would not be worth it.
  • Always over a light (white or bone) base; the tip can be drawn into detail as well.

Who it is for

For wargamers and modelers who need to paint a lot of figures in a short time, and for beginners who are still struggling with shading skin. An experienced figure painter will appreciate it as a dependable base on which to build further.

A paint in marker form, not a kit. Keep out of the reach of children and close the marker carefully after use so that the tip does not dry out. Work in a ventilated room.

FAQ

It is a painting marker, a full acrylic modeling paint in marker form. It does not serve for weathering but for painting a surface. What is special about it is that it is a contrast paint: it makes its own shadows in the recesses.

Yes, that is crucial. Contrast paints are translucent and their effect rests on a light base; the manufacturer recommends a white or bone base. On a dark base the shade barely stands out.

You will get a very decent base with relief in a moment, ideal for wargaming figures. For realistic collectors' skin, though, the highlights and shadows are usually still added by hand; the Quick Marker is a great start, not the final masterpiece.

It is a water-based acrylic paint, so any smearing cleans up with water. The marker is applied straight from the tip and no thinning is needed.
