MERDC Desert Colors from Vallejo is a six-piece set of Model Air range paints for the desert variants of the American MERDC camouflage pattern.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of six acrylic paints in 17 ml dropper bottles, five of them opaque shades and one a satin clear coat. According to the manufacturer's designation the set belongs to the Model Air range, which is thinner and sprays with no further thinning. The palette contains an earth yellow, a sand, an earth red, a field brown and a black, that is, the tones needed for the desert variants of the pattern. The earth shades are chosen so that they hold a difference against one another even after dusting, which on a desert vehicle always cuts the contrast down.
In the 1970s the American command for research and development of engineer equipment introduced a system of standardized camouflage patterns for vehicles. The system was built on twelve colors, from which a set of four was assembled for each environment and season. It is the desert variants of this system that this set covers.
For modelers of American Cold War and later vehicles who build them in desert service and want the matching tones together.
Shake the bottle before use. Work in a ventilated area and keep the paints out of the reach of children.
