Eight metallic shades for the airbrush: silver, steel, gold, brass, copper, gunmetal, black with a metallic sheen and a blue metallic tone.
Responsibility details are not available.
Unpainted duralumin skin, the barrels of machine guns or the armor plates of railway wagons can be imitated by these eight without the laborious application of metal foils. The pigment is made of very fine aluminum and bronze particles which, during spraying, settle into one plane and reflect the light much like rolled sheet. The difference between the individual tones shows above all on large surfaces, where silver, steel and the darker gunmetal can be alternated panel by panel to give the impression of parts of different ages.
Besides aircraft with a silvery skin, the shades find use on exhausts, hinges, chains, the boilers of steam locomotives and on fantasy figures in armor. Gold, brass and copper make it possible to pick out fittings, cartridge cases and the cooling fins of an engine without the modeler having to reach for unpleasantly grainy pastes.
The best result comes from a smooth gloss black base, on which the metallic pigment stands out. Spray lightly, from a shorter distance, and let each layer set, otherwise the particles clump into blotches. The dried surface takes careful polishing with a cotton bud. Before applying a wash it is a good idea to seal the layer with a gloss varnish, because metallic pigments soak up another color easily.
